How Apple & Ivy came about
I came up with the idea of Apple &
Ivy after a party in June of 2008. I wanted my son to be dressed up
for the occasion, tie and all. I sought after a tie that looked like
an adult tie design, but came up short. I figured I could find a tie
that was made out of silk, but again I was at a loss. Lastly I
really wanted my son’s and husband's tie to match, but I quickly
came to realize there was no such thing as a father and son necktie
set.
I decided to take matters into my own
hands. After dozens of prototypes, countless revisions and bits of
fabric strewn from wall to wall, I finally got my new product looking
just right. My matching husband and son tie set was the hit of the
party. Everyone raved and asked where they could get outfits of
their own. And so began Apply & Ivy…
Since I am a mother of a son, I know
how hard it is to find cute and unique things for your son(s). This
item was such a hit and not offered anywhere else; I wanted to be
able to offer it to other mothers. I can certainly guarantee it will
be the hit of your next party or event.

Expansion of Matching Items
The expansion of Apple & Ivy’s
matching product line actually came about through suggestions of our
customers. I had mothers that wanted their daughters to be apart of
the matching collection, so I added headbands and clips to the
product line. In spring of 2010 I added the matching jewelry line
after I had mothers wanting to be included, especially for Mother’s
Day. Our product line has grown from 1 product offering in August of
2009 to now 23 product offerings in May of 2010.

Bio-sketch
In 2008, I left my full-time job as a
Database Coordinator at Rollins College to become a stay at home
mother. Later that year, I founded Apple & Ivy—a small idea
that turned into a growing company and my dream career. I graduated
from Rollins College with a B.A. in Environmental and Growth
Management Studies and I hold an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School
of Business. I currently live my husband John and my energetic son
Logan in Winter Park, Florida.
